For years I lived in my head in high alert mode, in the corporate world.
The pressure to perform. The expectation to fit into the team, the business culture and to instill trust and motivation as a leader.
My head allowed me to believe I was handling this, but
my body disagreed!I woke up exhausted everyday and just feeling down. The stress was becoming a constant, encroaching on my personal life. My mind racing at night, replaying conversations, anticipating the next fire to put out.
My eyes were sore, I had tension headaches, my body was aching and my breathing fast and heavy. Yet I ignored these body signals, propelled by my autonomic nervous system, keeping me in a hyper defensive stress state, also known as
fight and flight.
I carried on regardless, like we do, until suddenly I couldn’t!
Redundancy forced me to stop, and in that moment of uncertainty, I realised something powerful:
transformation begins when we learn to regulate, not just react.
Our bodies are designed to help us adapt, but only if we understand how to work with them, not against them. When we stay in high alert survival mode for too long, we drain energy in stress instead of clear thinking, resilience, and well-being.
The good news? You can retrain your body and brain to become your greatest asset in navigating change.
I did it. Not only did I overcome the stress, but I made a bold career shift from engineering to life coaching so I could follow my passion of helping others overcome their limitations.
Whether you’re navigating career uncertainty, workplace stress, wanting to build confidence or simply want to change direction and follow your passion,
transformation is possible.
