Most people give up on their dreams, their objectives, their aspirations for the future because they put too much of their focus on how difficult the work is going to be.
The work, the activity, the effort is just something that has to be done in order to execute the plan.
The plan, once carried through, will achieve the goal, which ensures that the objective or dream is in turn realised.
However, during the whole process of 'dream, goal, plan, effort' you'll find it so much easier to be persistent, to be unaffected by set-backs if you focus top down and not bottom up: keep your focus on the dream not the effort.
1. Dream - a new garden fence.
2. Goal - made of wood, 5m long, 1m high, complete by Friday.
3. Plan - list of materials from B&Q, start on Monday.
4. Effort - visit B&Q, dig post holes, use Postcrete, erect fence.
If you are digging a hole for a new fence post, don't focus on the digging, focus instead on what your new fence will soon look like when it's finished.
Whatever the objective, use the top down approach and you'll find all your stumbling blocks turn into stepping stones.
