1. Don't follow the beaten path: join a small organisation, but one where your contribution is unique.
2. Become a big fish in a small pond: go and work in another country for five years.
3. Find a mentor and a mastermind group: consult them regularly.
4. Never listen to people who say, "I wouldn't do that if I were you!"
