Janet came to us recently and said, "I really enjoy doing what I do and I'm good at it but nevertheless I'm just ridiculously unhappy at work. Why am I so unhappy, what's wrong with me?"
After a lengthy discussion we concluded that there was in fact nothing "wrong" with Janet at all. She would be perfectly happy if only she were doing what she does with and for different people in a different working environment.
She didn't know how to read people's personalities so she was not able to manage relationships at work professionally. We also discovered that she didn't know how to manage her own working environment proactively.
