Client: “I found a really great job advertised on one of the job boards last weekend: it’s absolutely made for me and the closing date isn’t until next Monday, so I’m really going to town on my application, it’s going to be perfect and I’m going to submit it online on Thursday.”
What she wasn’t aware of, until I told her, was of another conversation I had had with a recruiter friend of mine.
Recruiter: “Depending on the role, recruiters know that by the time they have around 100 applicants, statistically they will have 5 good candidates they can submit to their client. For many roles advertised over a weekend, they reach 100 applicants by Tuesday.”
I wonder how seriously the recruiter then treats those applications that arrive after Tuesday? If you are applying for jobs through recruiters, please, please DO IT NOW, don't wait until next Thursday even if it is before the closing date! #proteuscareermanagement #jobsearch #jobapplication
