Barack Obama said, “If you're walking down the right path and you're willing to keep walking, eventually you'll make progress.”
As we see, he prefaced his famous statement with the conditional conjunction “if”.
So applying his wise words to our careers, it begs two questions, how do we make sure we’re on the right path and what do we have to do to ‘keep walking’? Like the question, the answer is in two parts.
Part 1: Have a written career objective that is integrated into your life plan - and don’t be afraid to tweak, modify and improve it every now and then to keep it in line with your life plan and to take account of the unexpected surprises that life throws at us.
Part 2: Do something every day towards the management of you career - once you’ve found the right path this will help you stay on it. Each and every day always do something related to your future, no matter how small, even if it is only thinking about it.
