Which kind of "What if?" person are you?

Which kind of "What if?" person are you?

“What if? A phrase that has given birth to more accomplishments than any other; yet it is also the great stumbling block of humanity. What if? Never has a phrase stopped more dreams in their infancy.”

This quote comes from a novel by David Simpson and it reminded me of something one of my mentors, Bachu Singh, told me many years ago. He introduced me to the idea that there are four types of "What if?" people and he challenged me to decide which type I was most of the time!

1. Positive - ideas generator: "What if we look at it this way - that would be amazing?"
2. Positive - precautionary: "What if we also build in a plan B - that'll guarantee it happens!"
3. Negative - ideas terminator: "What if it all goes wrong, that'll be a disaster - it's not worth the risk."
4. Negative - flapper: "What if it doesn't work, we can't sell enough, it's too expensive, etc, etc.
