Stop saying, “I’ll just ... and then I’ll ...”. It usually means, I’ll have my reward and then I’ll get on with the task.
Remember what my Great Uncle Ernest used to say, “Procrastination is the thief of time!”
Eliminate distractions of any description - in particular stop diving in and out of social media, especially Facebook!
Make a list of actions with deadlines for completion. However, don’t make list making into yet another distraction. Enjoy instead the satisfaction of putting a tick next to completed actions.
Hold yourself accountable to your mentor or partner, a colleague or friend, by telling them of your intentions to complete specific tasks by specific times.
Break down large tasks into manageable chunks. These are much easier to start and feel far less daunting.
Don’t leave the difficult tasks or the ones you’re not so keen on to the end - do them first and enjoy the rest of your day on the easier stuff.
Stop coming up with reasons why now is not a good time to do xyz and realise that it’s probably not a reason at all but simply an excuse.
By the way, please stop asking me how I know all this stuff!
