Reflective silence is a top interviewee skill.

Reflective silence is a top interviewee skill.

There is an art to remaining silent, at least for very short periods of a few seconds.

Remember, an interview is not a timed quiz where the first correct answer wins, it is more a meeting of minds where you must first train yourself to listen before the impulse to speak takes over.

Don't overdo it, but silence can be a most effective tool for an interviewee, it gives you the opportunity to reflect before you answer, thus increasing the likelihood that your answer will be succinct, pertinent, appropriate and intelligent without the need for waffle!

It's all about learning to talk less and say more.
