Be conscious of your self-talk!

Be conscious of your self-talk!

Am I shy or am I not?

A little girl, out with her mum, was very miserable; a snivelling cold.

Her mum was protective; she said to friends, "Don't fuss over Jade, she's shy."

Over time she got used to saying, "... she's shy."

Over time Jade got used to hearing, "... she's shy."

Over time Jade started saying to herself, "I'm shy."

Jade behaved like every other shy and reserved teenager.

However, at college she met someone she really liked and enjoyed chatting to and only then did she realise, "I'm not shy at all - I only think I am."

Be very careful what you say to yourself, particularly if you are an interviewee!
