IMPERATIVE: DEVELOP YOUR CAREER BOUNCEBACKABILITY!

IMPERATIVE: DEVELOP YOUR CAREER BOUNCEBACKABILITY!

If you’ve enjoyed a smooth and happy career ever since you started work l have got two things to say to you.

First, you are the exception and not the rule and secondly, when it does go wrong it will seem to you to be going spectacularly wrong and you are extremely unlikely to be well prepared.

The particular strength of character you need to develop is that of indomitable resilience in the face of adversity, the ability to bounce back no matter what happens to you.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength.”

If your career does go wrong, then for financial reasons you may have to settle for a new job in the short term, but your long term aim, your main focus, should always be to continue your career.

Find a new stable and steed, don’t settle for a pony - you may finish up in a trap!

Or, put another way, don't let the work you do for your job get in the way of your career!
